My shifter is binding when you move it side to side making it difficult to get in reverse ,fifth and sixth. It also seem to not be going fully into first ,third and fifth. It pops out of those three at times. I took the shift boot of and looked around in there ,but I saw nothing out of the ordinary. I'm thinking it's the cables ,but not sure. Any ideas?

I would def. look at the cables. That could be very well why it is binding going side to side. There may be something that is in the way of the cable moving like a wire or something. I would also adjust the cables.
I would start at the transmission where the shift cables hook up to the linkage on the tranny cause I don't have a five speed but when they cables popped off i could only go into 3 and 4 gear but definetely take a look at where the cables hook up to the trans, wich should be on the back of the trans. Hope that helps
