Ford booms with Limited-Edition Focus Mach Audio ZTS

NEW YORK, March 27, 2002 – Ford is introducing the Focus MACH Audio ZTS sedan, the fifth in a series of limited-edition Focus models. The MACH Audio appeals to music lovers who demand stronger, more-advanced sound systems delivering an exceptional listening experience.

The 2002 Focus MACH Audio ZTS features Ford's MACH Audio system, unique interior and exterior styling cues and High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps, a first for Focus. The company will build no more than 6,000 when production begins in May.

“With 460 watts of power, you feel the bass,” said Bob Kim, Focus marketing manager. “So, if you want sounds super-sized, this is your car.”

The MACH Audio System is a fully-integrated, factory-installed audio system that includes a six-disc in-dash CD changer, four 5 x 7-inch door-mounted, two-way speakers, a 10-inch dual-voice coil subwoofer, equalization tailored to the unique interior package of the Focus and 460 watts of amplifier power. The interior also features a unique silver-faced instrument cluster and mesh seat fabrics and door trim panels.

The Focus MACH Audio will be recognizable on the road thanks to HID headlamps that produce whiter light and three times the output of halogen lamps; chrome-tipped exhaust; six-spoke, machined-aluminum wheels with P205/50R-16 low profile tires and MACH Audio badging. It will be available in CD Silver, Liquid Grey and a MACH Audio-exclusive Mandarin Copper.

The Focus MACH Audio ZTS sedan is the fifth in a series of statement-edition cars offered since Ford launched Focus in 2000. Earlier models include the Sony Limited-Edition Focus, the Kona Mountain Bike Edition, Street Edition and Focus S2.

With an MSRP of $16,975, including destination and delivery charges, this statement-edition car will be sold nationwide beginning in late spring.

Ford Focus continues to set the standard for small car roominess, comfort, driving dynamics and appearance. With a 2.0-liter DOHC Zetec I-4 engine delivering 130 horsepower and 135 lb.-ft. of torque, Focus is priced from $12,985 for the three-door ZX3 to $18,445 for the ZTW wagon. It is available as a three-door, five-door, sedan and wagon. A high-performance SVT Focus model, with a high-revving, 170-horsepower four-cylinder engine and a six-speed manual transmission, was launched in March.
