Express Yourself: Designing your dream car

If you associate custom cars with hot rods, think again. Now you too can create your very own, very happening "buggy" when you purchase a Ford Focus. The company is selling an affordable Express Yourself Package by the end of the year with a bevy of funky accessories so you can dress up your car the way you like it.

"We don’t believe in the one-size-fits-all theory," says Ford Focus brand manager Julie Roehm. "Young people really define themselves, and they don’t conform to the masses. So we need to be able to offer them alternatives and a choice."

Check it out! If you’re the tattoo type, you can choose from one of the many car decals, ranging from flowers to swirls that can turn any drive into a flight of fancy. And the current designs are a far cry from the flames and pin-stripes of yesteryear. In addition, manual car owners can indulge with a special gear shift.

Never say ouch again. A novel seat wardrobe in neoprene, fleece or jersey will keep you from getting stuck to a hot seat. And if that’s cool enough, you can accessorize your steering wheel with a dazzling steering wheel cover.

Of course, you can coordinate things even more with the Friend’s Package. This cool combo features an ice cooler that fits into your car, so your picnics can be picture perfect. And of course, who doesn’t crave candy on long trips? Forget about cluttering up your car with wrappers and bags. Here’s a surprise treat – a Candy Dispenser fits right into your Focus. Now that’s what you call one sweet deal. Both of these packages will be available by the end of the year. It’s a way of putting your personal imprint on your car for a low additional cost.

"While everyone can own a Focus, no two cars have to look exactly alike," says Roehm.

Now that’s what you call a car with personality!
