According to the USA Today article on the PEZV that you posted, the Focus has been recall-free since 2001. That is pretty good for a newer car model. You guys should be gratefull that Ford still has the balls to admitt trouble and do recalls after getting constantly bashed for it. Other manufacturaers, in order to get good press, just fix problems during routine maintainence, or just do not recall at all. My brother in-law works a the biggest Chevy dealership in WV, and he says they keep at least 50 fuel pumps in stock (along with their control units), to put on new cavaliers and Tahoes/trucks. His parents own a Tahoe that has had 2 fuel control units and 5 fuel pumps (2001 model) and no recalls! I have a friend that has put 5 pumps on her Cav. and no recalls. Also the National Traffic Safety board has issued a warning to all Trailblazer owners concerning taillights that mysteriously go out, and GM does not know how to fix the problem! No recall though!

Matt, I posted this thread so those new owners that buy used Foci from 2000 to 2001 that come to this forum could be aware that there were recalls that may effect them. I'm not saying Ford is bad. If they were, I wouldn't of bought a 2003 Focus after the Ford Focus engine fire made it to national news in 2002. It did make me think about it but I bought the Focus because most of the reviews I read were good. I like the Focus. It's dependable, fun to drive and easy to mod. I've got over 16K miles in less than a year and drove it to Cali from Washington state and back in the summer with no problems.

I have a 2000, only thing I've had a recall on was a rear suspension brace and somthing with the battery not sure it just happend about a month ago. The only thing I think that sucks about the 2000's was the premature brake wear on the first set of brakes.

i got a 2000 to ..only prob i had was when my ignition broke and i couldnt start my car, key wouldnt move or anything.

my car was bought by m ydad new in November of 2001 it should be recall free right?

any year of focus you buy should have all the recalls done by now. So the recalls don't affect any of the cars any more. A trip to the dealer and they can look up weather the recall was acomplished on your car. Glad to see I am not the only one who knows Ford is honest with recalls and GM won't do a recall unless forced to.

ya alot of dealers when I was lookin at cars told me not to go with the focus cause ford had so many recals on them, but I love mine so far
