2003 ZX5 - Trunk light problem
Since I have owned my focus I always thought my car had no trunk light because whenever I opened the hatch there was no light. Yesterday I had the trunk cover off to put tires in the back and when I pressed the hatch open button on my key fob I noticed there is a light in the trunk, but when I open the hatch it turns off. Is there a fix for this? To me it seems that the sensor is backwards for the trunk light, if it is has anyone fixed it before?

I would go back there and see what actually turns on/off the trunk light, on some doors for example there is a switch that the door pushes down on to turn off the interior lights when the door is closed. Go back there and see what kind of setup you have and look for a short, most times electrical problems like this have simple solutions

I know on my sedan my trunk light doesn't work period because it's wired into the latch assembly for power/ground and the ground inside the latch assembly is all corroded apparently. So for me, the only way I would be able to get my trunk light working again would be to replace the latch assembly, which isn't a cheap venture... I ended up just getting a little battery-powered sticky LED light from Walmart and attaching it to the roof of my trunk and turning it on and off manually when I need it.
