heater fault

Hi,
I have a focus 1.8tdci 2003 and the heater has stopped working. The blower works fine as does the A/C and climate control but no heat. I did have smoke come from the vents in the dash today so i am presuming somthing has burnt out? If so could someone please tell me what its likley to be and where on the engine it is.
Thanks very much.

Any coolant on the inside of the vehicle? Heater core would be my guess.

Did you happen to smell the smoke? Did it smell sweet? if so, sounds like coolant burn off.
