Ah yes, well, we did make some progress, we got the bung for the wideband 02 welded on the flexpipe. Hit that with some paint. Got the old exhaust off, it was an interesting exhaust shop job for sure.
Problems started when we started to put the replacement exhause in place. It was the trubendz 2.5" stainless, with a borla muffler. I really liked the sound of this system on my Zetec, that's why I really wanted to put it on the project car. Unfortunately, the larger gas tank on the 2.3E does not provide enough clearance for the full size, almost 10" wide borla. I think, as a semi-temporary solution, I'll get the largest magniflow round muffler I can fit in there. We'll cut out the borla and weld in the replacement. Hopefully next weekend:( In the future, maybe a trick Borla race muffler, but that'll cost some $$$$. So until next weekend.

Oh yeah, that also got me thinking, under the update/backdate streetprepared rules...
Would it be a significant weight savings to get a zetec or SPI gas tank? Any thoughts? Not worth the effort? Maybe better to go fuel cell in the long, long, off future.

Well, we welded in a 4" magniflow muffler where the borla was, and took it for a test drive. There is one word to describe it...loud. It sounds great, and you can't help but crack a grin when you go WOT, but its too much to drive a hundred miles to an autox with. So, I'll be shopping for an additional resonnator to put upstream of this one, just to take a little more volume out of the system.
Also got my used koni's now, I'll be working on putting those in during the week. Now I just need to get the wideband O2 wired, and get the custom tune, and it'll be autox-able.

nice build! so you're saying that the car has the ITM and header but no tune? Mine leaned out hardcore before the tune and was not safe to WOT. When you get Tom's tune, just make sure he turns off EGR and EVAP and whatnot and you can remove most everything. Look at the pictures of my engine for reference, I have only the fuel pressure regulator and brake booster vacuum lines hooked up, the rest are plugged!

^^Yeah, I say WOT, but I didn't crack it open all the way, keep the rev's down too. I bought the car used with the ITM on it, not sure what it has on it for a tune, but tuning it again, with everything on it.

Quick update for the weekend, I'll try to get pics up later. The Koni's are installed, though the front passenger side was a pain. Also welded in a 22" x 4" magnaflow, which cut down on the sound enough to make in tolerable. Thanks Austin for your help with that.
Lots of stuff left to do on the car, but I'm making some headway:)
