Wheel bearing
I was told by another mechanic to make sure they weren't tightening them with an air gun and when I suggested that they said they don't do that, they do it with a torque wrench.

I never change springs on ANY car, have never had the need to. But of course I don't load my cars down with 50,000 pounds of stuff either. I'm hard pressed to change struts either, I can tell they are getting weaker but knowing the difference from new to old I won't spend money on them. As long as car easily controllable with a sudden steering wheel jerk I don't worry about them.
Tell them then to use the better bearings. You mentioned spindle condition but not whether they changed it, bad spindle can do all of that. All talk of 'reputable' shop is worthless if they can't keep simple bearings installed for life of car. The ones I've hammered in have been running for more than 10 years. |
