Kia Pro_Cee'd GT: another hot hatch we won't get

Interestingly, in the news segment where they talked about this car, I don't think he made much ado about the name. In fact I even caught him calling the regular Cee'd by the correct name in the episode where they play rugby with Kias.

Personally, if we're talking hot European FWD cars we can't get here, I like the Vauxhall Astra VXR that was also recently featured on Top Gear.

Both Kia & Hyundai have a ways to go in competing head to head with the Euro hot hatch scene. Looks and features they are being noticed, but until they give their chassis's and driving dynamics priority over just being cheaper then the rest, that is what they are at the moment. On the surface quite interesting, but don't have the DNA bones to take on the likes of Focus, Golf, etc etc.

I would imagine these would sell very well in North America.

Great bones, but unfortunately it shows signs of "Hyundai's trying too hard" that I've seen in the past. This is something I thought Kia stayed away from. The character crease in the door that goes nowhere couldn't be more random & out of place, and those cheap-looking glued-on sill extensions are very reminesent of Corolla "S" tack-ons. This car should be as tidy and clean as the Koup.

You have to remember that this car was made specifically for Europe in mind(although it is imported to Iran and South Africa). It's not sold here in the U.S. because it would cannibalize sales of the Hyundai Elantra Touring wagon and the current Elantra GT hatchback.

And incidentally,an Elantra actually more street time "under its belt" than any Focus.
