Anyone that has done an SVT SWAP, I NEED HELP!
So my auto tranny went bad in my 03 focus. I bought an 02 Svt focus wrecked and basically swapped the motor and tranny and just about everything else. Ive replaced all of the harnesses, ecu, pcm, fuel pump, etc.. One thing i did not think about was the svt key! the svt i bought didnt havea key. So i had to get my car towed to ford yesterday to get the key cut and programmed and it still isnt starting. it is turning over but not starting up. i can NOT hear the fuel pump kick on. I hooked up an obd2 scan tool and it said something like pats system not reading transponder or reciever or something like that. I called ford today and they said that i need to replace the ignition key transponder/reciever. can anyone shed some light on this for me? I had them order it for me but im curious as to if there is something special about the little black ring around the ignition switch and svt's?

i'm not familiar with the whole tech side of PATS, but if you had the dealership do the job, you should be able to bring it back and get it for free since they didn't do it correctly the first time.
Unless you just wanted a new key from them. |
