Valve tick

So this is just a general question for everyone. My 02 SVTF has roughly 125k on it, I bought it with around 80k. When I bought it, there was a fair amount of valve tick going on ( or some sort of top end noise). Since I've had it, its gotten a little worse but not significantly. My question is, is this a common this with these motors, or should I be worried? I had the valve cover off not too long ago to replace the valve cover gasket and the cam lobes had some visible wear on them but I kind of figured that was normal. Full synthetic has been run since I've gotten it ( I cannot speak for previous owners). Also as a side note.. im planning on driving it down to florida (from michigan) for SB coming up here in a few weeks. Bad idea? hope not.. lol

Moved to "General Technical Chat". It is not normal for the valves to be ticking at all. I would have it checked out before taking it on any long distance car trips.

My svtf is pretty noisy at idle too. I have a slight exhaust leak and no heat shielding, so I assume thats why I notice it. Who knows, Ive been beating the crap out of it for 5000 miles since Ive had it and nothing has exploded yet, also the CVT still works so oil pressure must not be TOO low.

take off valve cover bust out feeler gauges and check your lash if its out of spec you will need to get new buckets I just bought a set of 16 of the forum for 35$ ;) to add to my collection when i check mine when i do the timing assembly
