(general) wheel size before lowering an MK3 sedan? and help with wheels?

Just wondering what an appropriate wheel size for a flush look with a lowered focus sedan. By lowered, In no way do i mean slammed, I mean flush with the wheel lowered. I was thinking 18s then I'd lower it some but I'm doing my homework, and was wondering if anyone had already lowered with an aftermarket wheel size for a flush look, could give me info/pictures.
