Here is my question for Freemind and any other car audio experts. When I had the re subs in this box facing the trunk they tore the lows up. When I sealed the box from the trunk I went straight to the sundowns. I did not test the res facing forward. Here is my issue. the lows don't seem like they have as much authority with the sundowns as the re subs did facing the trunk. The two things I can think this would be cause by are either the fact that they are now sealed from the trunk firing in the cabin and the lows are not as prominent with this style setup, or being the box has too much airspace for the sundowns they are hitting the lows like they should. What do you guys think is the cause? I miss those gut wreching lows. They are still here with the sundowns it just doesn't seem like they are as powerful.

It has to do with wave length. There are extensive write ups on the inter-webs.

At this point IMO, it is vital to get the correct air space for the time being.

Are you sure you sealed off the trunk as close to 100% as possible? Try something real quick and depending on the outcome I could probably help. Find a song that hits low to you and play it with the windows up and doors shut. Then pop your trunk, open it up, and then sit back inside the car. If it seems better than before then you haven't sealed it good enough. That's the biggest reason for that problem unless your box isn't the right airspace or tuning. Or you may not have enough port area. What's the specs on the box? Outer dimensions, and then port width/height/length.

The problem is solved lol. It tears up the 25-35hz range now and my whole headliner flexes so much that my dome light connector came loose lol. The subs just needed to break in a little. They blow the lows away, it even surprised twistedchild420(Richard) he was listening to it with me and said he didn't expect them to hit the lows like they did on heartbreaker on zip 31(decaf).

Sweet. Good to hear it's fixed. Richard's a cool guy. When I was at SBN 2013 and in the parking lot demoing for some people he came and checked it out and made a video. I haven't seen it in any of his recently uploaded though. Oh well lol.

Yeah he is really cool I have known him for a couple years. I'm supposed to stop by there so he can put the DD1 on my amp. Ho hard was it to do the big 3 on our car? I have been meaning to do it forever, but always get hesitant because the awkward location of the alt

ive watched some of twisteds vids, he makes some great videos.

Here is a vid of mine before it was hitting hard lol. It is much louder now and I have alootttt more flex even with all my sound deadening.
