Sweetness. Do you stock them, or is it a "order it" kind of a thing?

Also, do you have/can you get both the VCT and non-VCT cams?

Any experience with these things? I'm very close to just pulling the trigger...

We do have a set of the 229-1014 here.

They can be ordered with or without VCT oil passages.

The ones we have here, have them.

The cost is the same, so we figure it's best to order them that way. WE have our Massive Speed SVT VCT deletes available should you wish to not run them.

Cool. The little research I've done says that 2291014 would require some additional valve train work, correct?

My plan was to keep most things stock and throw in a Zetec head gasket for a bit more compression.

Any idea what kind of gains to expect? I was originally looking at 2291013, as it looks like those play nicely with stock parts...

Yes, that is true.

I cant say I've used the 1013 grind myself.

Cat UK however did post this dyno.



"The new Cat Cam’s 2301013 profiles are a direct swap for the original Ford items and are totally compatible with the standard ST170 mechanical valve gear.
And they really deliver, as recent dyno testing at Sussex based Devil Developments proved, when a Caterham running a standard ST170 motor with the
Cat Cams 2301013 profiles and 45mm throttle bodies produced an impressive 207 bhp @ 6800 rpm, allied to 177 lb.ft of torque at 5500 rpm.
The spread of torque produced by the Cat Cams is equally notable, with over 160lb.ft available from 3700 rpm to 6700 rpm, highlighting the driveable nature of the profile."

Yeah, I noticed that graph on their site, but it's for 2301013 not 2291013. Is the only difference the VCT?

I'm kind of torn. I do want to make this little project worthwhile, but don't know whether to go with 1014 or 1013. Any idea what other costs I'm looking at if I go with 1014?

Also, how long would it take to get the 1013 grind in?

I'll likely be ordering these as soon as my tax refund clears my bank account.

Yep. VCT deletion.

There are no cost difference with the camshafts. If you do want the CAT upgraded springs/retainers (not such a bad idea even with the 13 grind) it would run you an additional $281.

Probably about 2 weeks out. I can get them faster but the additional shipping would be bananas.

I would keep the VCT if you can.
