are there any other thicker head gasket options besides cometic? that is going to be the selling point for me because i HAD forgotten about how bad they were for blowing out under moderate boost. well, i just got reminded and since my boost levels arent going to be moderate by any stretch a cometic HG is going to be a HELL no. so basically if there are no other options for bringing the compression ration down to acceptable margins then im going to have to pass on this head as well.
and crower stage 5 cams? good lord! how did yall even come across those things? ive never even seen a pair for sale. what kind of rpms would you be twisting out to be in the optimal power range with those cams? i seem to remember crower 3's like around 8k rpm so what is a 5? 10k? LOL

Ferriday Engineering has thicker "decompression" copper gaskets.
http://www.ferriday.co.uk/cnc/decomp...n_plates.shtml Honestly, Cometic makes a nice product. They more or less spearheaded the development of the MLS HG. Ford used that technology on the stock Zetec gasket. It's good stuff. I think alot of folks who have kicked a Cometic blame it on the gakset - I'd venture to say it's the tune (or lack of) instead of the gasket. The Crower 5's are pretty bad ass, that's for sure. I'll post specs on them prob monday. |

good lord those are huge cams! dont think those are gonna clear a stock head! sadly im going to pass as well. im going to be running way too much boost and will have way too much money invested in my build to risk messing it all up. call me crazy but i just really dont like the cometic HG either. maybe its all hype and they really are good gaskets but ive just heard too many horror stories and seen too many builds that were A-OKAY on the ford HG. tuning be damned. this will be freaking badass for someone that wants to make a killer N/A build though. this might be the one for some zetec guy to get pretty close to 200whp all motor focus. GLWS, this is an awesome deal!
