2012 Focus SE Suspension

Hey all,

I'm looking into lowering my car, the only thing is I do plan on doing some autox with it so I want to make sure I lower it right.

Anyways what do you guys think the best bang for my buck setup would be?

I was thinking some combination of front and rear sway bars plus coilovers. Yet, I wouldn't be opposed to going the springs plus dampers route instead of coils.

I forgot to mention in my first post that I plan on doing the STF class.

Also I was looking at the different coilover options and was wondering if I would be okay doing one of these.

I'd rather go with the STs as they are cheaper, that is unless the H&Rs are substantially better.

My first recommendation is finding out how your car runs stock, first.

If you can't leave it alone :P I would go ST coilovers, camber plates and a rear sway bar. And tires, get some good tires. Otherwise it won't matter what suspension you have.

I probably will run it first. But I'm not planning on doing anything to it because of autox I just want to make sure what I do doesn't screw it up.

Well if you're not lowering it for autocross, then any coilover on the market would be fine for the occasional autocross/track day. Both of the ones you posted will handle this and more.

Well, you're on the right track if you want to lower the car and still do ok at autox. ST and HR are both good options.

Stuff I see as doing it wrong includes: cutting springs, doing springs but no damping, springs with poor damping, and springs that are not stiff enough for the suspension travel available.
