Some fun STS action. Though I wish my Focus didn't have a Torsen in it. I would love to dabble in STF.

Wait. What? Focus falls into STS with a Torsen?

Last year I ran a Focus with Torsen in STX, but for 2012, I understood that this was disallowed, and the only Street Touring class for the Focus was STF.

Well, I checked the current rules, and as far as I can tell, I was remembering correctly... so hopefully you just mis-typed, or maybe your region has special rules for Street Touring class rules.

14.10.K. Limited Slip Differentials
STC, STS, STF – No limited slip differentials are permitted except for factory standard viscous coupler type units.

Note that STS does not have a catch-all statement at the end of its car list, like STX does. This is why you could run a Focus in ST or STX by qualifying under their "NOC" catch-all statements. This year, though, we don't get to choose our Street Touring class based on prep, because the Focus is specifically classified in STF. This sucks for those of us in regions without a street-tire modifier or street-tire open class, because the Torsen dumps you right into FSP, and race tires are expensive!

So then, this is the complete list of classes for the Focus in 2012 SCCA Solo:

HS
STF
FSP
EP
EM

we just had a Focus class breakdown in another thread!!
I'm not going to lie, a prepped STS Honda is extremely fun! but have you tried a prepped STS Miata??

Anyone attending Nationals?? I wish i could make it.. but work is busy. We've got about 4 locals attending.

(3) Yep, those are a good time, but IMO still not as much fun as STX/R prepped FR-S, RX8, Z4, S2K... and those, in turn, aren't as much fun as anything in SSM
(4) Not me, can't afford the time

Speaking of fun things to autox, I get to run a Coyote KT100 on Sunday... worth it just for the scent of 110 octane premix

not too familiar with karts.. is that a shifter?? if so, those things FLY!!!

i've driven an STR prepped S2k... I need one!
buuuuut an SSM (supercharged) Miata takes the cake for sure..
i REALLY wanna try a locals DP Miata.. that thing is on rails.

Nope, centrifugal clutch 100cc 2 stroke. Another friend has a 125cc shifter, but I've got about 6" and 60lbs on him, so I can't fit into his seat

Our autox club president has an SSM (turbo) Miata... the things that car can do

I haven't installed it yet. I want to send it back to Redshift to have the rev limiter dropped a couple hundred rpm. Chris recommended 7400-7600 for a stock engine. I just need to do the math to find out what mph that range would give me at the top second.
