Just a thought here..
Couldn't you just run a resistor in the IAT wire and have it wired to a potentiometer and a switch? That could trick the computer into thinking the air is cooler, thus dumping more fuel in for added power. I know this mod works for zx2 Zetecs, so the Focus Zetec shouldn't be much different. |

the car will make peak power when the mixture of air and fuel is perfect. simply increasing the amount of fuel going into the mix will not make more power. however the denser(colder) the air is in the mixture the more fuel is needed to achieve this "perfect" mix which is the purpose of the IAT sensor. it compensates for the density of the air, adding and removing fuel as the air temperature changes to try and keep the mixture in the butter zone. tricking the IAT sensor into thinking the air is denser than it really is will only result in loss of power and fuel economy. any "chips" you have seen advertised as you described are nothing more than a scam.

I've found a dyno sheet a member from another site posted pertaining to the potentiometer mod, otherwise known as "pots." Nearly a 6whp and 5wtq gain at 6k rpms is shown:
![]() He set his potentiometer at 28k ohms for the dyno pull. I may have created a slight confusion with my previous post; only a potentiometer and a switch are necessary for this modification. In all reality, a good tune would eliminate the purpose of this mod, but it's cheap and effective. |

sorry, but tricking the computer doesn't give you more power.

ya, except ur boosting, u know that. he's saying just adding fuel adds power, which it doesn't. its like these ebay chips that supposedly give you 50 whp and 20 mpg better.
